NewJeans has officially ended its promotional ambassador role with the Incheon Airport Customs Office.
According to a report by Newsis on July 15, the Incheon Airport Customs announced the conclusion of its ambassador contract with NewJeans.
NewJeans was appointed as promotional ambassadors in March 2023. After a year of service, discussions were held between the customs office and NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, regarding a possible extension. However, it was ultimately decided that continuing the role would be difficult, leading to the end of the contract.
Speculation had already been circulating that the customs office began searching for new ambassadors as early as March this year.
NewJeans' promotional activities were notably limited due to the onset of internal disputes. Just a month after their appointment, tensions between ADOR’s former CEO Min Hee Jin and its parent company HYBE became public, with NewJeans caught in the middle of the conflict. These circumstances reportedly hindered their ability to fulfill their ambassador duties.
As a result, attention is now focused on who will be selected as the next promotional ambassador for Incheon Airport Customs.
Meanwhile, the third court hearing in ADOR’s ongoing legal battle with NewJeans over the validity of their exclusive contracts is scheduled for July 24.
