T.O.P, a former member of Big Bang, has officially signaled his return to the music scene as a solo artist.
In a recent interview with global platform Awards Buzz, T.O.P revealed his plans to release a solo album, sparking excitement among fans worldwide. The interview was conducted ahead of the release of 'Squid Game Season 3,' in which he reprises his controversial role as the washed-up rapper Thanos from Season 2.
When asked, “If Thanos were to take over the world, how would he handle people?” T.O.P responded with his signature wit, saying, “First, I’d take the piggy bank. And like Thanos said before, I’d wipe out half of humanity with my rap.” He then added, “Because, because my solo album dropping soon,” directly confirming his return as a solo artist.
This marks a significant moment for T.O.P, who had remained largely out of the spotlight since being sentenced to a 10-month suspended prison term in 2016 for marijuana use. His comeback suggests the start of a new chapter after years of self-reflection.
T.O.P resumed his acting career last December with his role in 'Squid Game Season 2,' but his performance sparked mixed reactions and heated debate online. As a result, he was notably absent from the show’s official press conference and global promotional events.
However, recent developments indicate a turning point in his career. T.O.P has begun addressing the controversies through follow-up interviews and has rejoined promotional activities. Most notably, he appeared on stage at Netflix’s global fan event 'TUDUM 2025,' held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, ahead of Squid Game Season 3’s premiere.
As T.O.P prepares to make his comeback in both music and acting, public attention is mounting. Fans and critics alike are eager to see what artistic direction he will pursue as a solo musician and what roles he will take on as an actor in the next phase of his career.
