Netizens react to P Nation’s new 4-member girl group Baby DONT Cry, produced by i-dle’s Soyeon

P Nation has launched its first girl group, Baby DONT Cry.

The group revealed their first concept teaser and opened official social media channels, officially beginning promotions as a brand-new 4-member girl group under Psy’s label. The main producer behind the project has been confirmed as i-dle's Soyeon.

Based on the silent teaser, the group hints at a vintage and girly yet edgy, cool, and stylish concept. Retro-style logos featuring four adorable cherries appear to represent the four members. In their social media posts, the tagline "You will regret it if you let go of your chance right now," which accompanies a release date, is believed to be the title of their pre-release song.

While many netizens are eagerly anticipating the group’s full debut—especially with Soyeon as the lead producer—some have begun to critique the group’s name, Baby DONT Cry.

The group’s official hashtag abbreviates the name as "BDC," but several netizens pointed out that BDC was already the name of a boy group formerly under Brand New Music. Although that group has since disbanded, some criticized the decision to reuse the abbreviation without regard for the legacy and fandom of the previous group, even if it had a relatively low-key presence.

Others noted that "Baby Don’t Cry" is also the title of an upcoming song by the girl group cosmosy, set for release this July. The phrase is also famously associated with EXO’s well-known track "Baby Don’t Cry," leading to confusion and debate over the appropriateness of using such a familiar name.

Baby DONT Cry's debut is set for June 23 at 6 PM KST, with a pre-release song slated for June 16 at 0 AM KST.
