On May 9, actor Won Bin's representatives addressed recent claims involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron and a controversial voice recording allegedly connected to her.
Speaking to Xports News, a representative for Won Bin stated, “Aside from visiting the funeral home to pay respects to the deceased, he has no involvement in this matter.”
The clarification follows a press conference held on May 7 by Kim Se Eui, head of the Garosero Research Institute (HoverLab), and attorney Boo Ji Seok of the law firm Buyou, who represents Kim Sae Ron’s family. During the event, they revealed that a whistleblower, identified only as 'Mr. A,' had allegedly recorded several voice files with the late actress’s consent, implicating actor Kim Soo Hyun in multiple alleged crimes. They further claimed that Mr. A was attacked on May 1 by two unidentified men from Korea and China, suffering nine stab wounds to the neck.
Subsequently, Mr. A’s wife issued an audio statement. She disclosed that the case is currently under investigation by U.S. authorities. Though she withheld specific details, she expressed strong belief that the truth would eventually emerge.
In her message, she also mentioned Won Bin, who co-starred with Kim Sae Ron in the 2010 film 'The Man from Nowhere' and attended her funeral. “I didn’t know who he was at first or that he was famous in Korea,” she said. “But I recognized what he did. He came quietly and showed sincere respect. That humanity meant more to us than words can express. We’re truly grateful.”
While the exact nature of Won Bin's actions remains unspecified, the actor’s agency has firmly distanced him from the ongoing controversy. They also emphasized that he wishes to honor the memory of the deceased without contributing to the spread of related speculation or unverified claims
