SM Entertainment will soon acquire a significant share in Great M Entertainment, home to K-Pop boy group 82MAJOR. The partnership with the startup label signals the first step for SM Entertainment's goal of operating a "multi-label system" under its 'SM 3.0' strategy, aimed at establishing a broad web of independent production centers and labels for the sustained development and management of IP.
Great M Entertainment was previously established in March of 2020 by Kim Young Sun, a former director at FNC Entertainment. Kim Young Sun went on to debut 82MAJOR in October of 2023, and the boy group instantly garnered global attention for their unique team style and color. Most recently, they released their 3rd mini album 'Silence Syndrome' in April of this year, and will soon kick off their 2025 solo concert '82 Syndrome' in Seoul from June 6-8. Following the Seoul show, 82MAJOR will embark on their 1st North American tour from June through July.
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment intends on investing in various domestic and international labels in the future for the diversification and expansion of music.
