According to a report by SBS News on May 23 KST, the late actress Kim Sae Ron wrote the following in an Instagram story uploaded onto her private SNS account around 2 AM on September 8, 2024.
The post read,
"If I'm dead, take a screen shot of this and make it public.
XXXX XX XXXX.
These are the people who saved me.
And to the people who left me when I was at the lowest point in my life. Think back on all that you received from me.
My blood alcohol level was 0 from the breathalyzer test. It was only the blood test that produced high results. But it was still the day before, there was no power outage, and I still compensated the merchants who were affected.
Well, I will not suffer any longer."
According to close acquaintances of the late actress, 2 friends who saw Kim Sae Ron's post that day rushed to her home and prevented her from an accident.
Furthermore, SBS News reported that the three individuals named by Kim Sae Ron, including two famous K-Pop idols and one singer, each lent the late actress 100 million KRW. Kim Sae Ron referred to these acquaintances as "the people who saved me".
Two other acquaintances, including actor 'A' and singer/actor 'B', also lent Kim Sae Ron money some time after her DUI incident in May of 2022. Singer 'C' not only lent the actress money in 2023, but also sent money to the bereaved family members around May of 2024.
SBS News additionally claimed that Kim Sae Ron borrowed 50 million KRW from a non-celebrity acquaintance, 'D', to pay the deposit for her apartment and 60 million KRW from her agency of 1-year, Run Entertainment, to pay for surgery and hospitalization costs.
According to acquaintances of the late actress, Kim Sae Ron suffered from severe financial hardships after her DUI incident in in May of 2022, after which she was hit with a penalty of 700 million KRW from the production studio of the Netflix series 'Bloodhounds'.
