On May 31, Hwangbo took to social media to reveal she has been a victim of repeated non-payment by a production company, expressing her frustration and calling for accountability.

Through an Instagram Story, Hwangbo shared a series of captured messages exchanged with an individual presumed to be affiliated with the company in question. The messages included multiple apologies and excuses, such as: “I was unwell and couldn’t work, so I couldn’t prepare the money,” and “I’ll settle everything by the end of the month.”
Hwangbo, however, expressed outrage, writing: “The same excuses since last year, and promises that are never kept.” She added, “It’s been over 30 days since I completed the work, and I still haven’t been paid. Please, do not sign contracts with producers like this. Be cautious and make sure you do your due diligence.”
This isn’t the first time the singer has spoken publicly about the issue. On April 2, Hwangbo made headlines after claiming she was a victim of fraud and announcing plans to take legal action. At the time, she posted a partially redacted photo of a man’s resident registration card and wrote: “This beauty production company CEO has even stopped answering my calls. I’ve been giving him chances since last year, politely and patiently.”
She continued, “Am I a fool for being deceived again? Let’s see how well you live after stealing someone else’s money. I’m filing a lawsuit now.”
The uploaded image included the man’s name and a partially blurred ID number, identifying him as someone issued a resident registration card in Gimhae in July 2016. Hwangbo claimed this individual was responsible for causing her financial harm.
Hwangbo, who debuted in 2000 as a member of the girl group Chakra, has remained active in the entertainment industry through various TV programs and appearances.
