Red Velvet members Irene and Seulgi recently expressed confusion after receiving suspicious direct messages (DMs) claiming to be from a casting manager.

On May 6, both Irene and Seulgi posted a screenshot of the same message on their Instagram Stories. The DM, written in English and seemingly from a foreign individual, began with: “Hello, my name is R, and I'm a casting manager.”
The message continued: “I'd love to invite you to be part of an upcoming show this May. If you're interested, please complete your profile and send it to the US.” The sender even addressed each member by name, swapping out only the recipient’s name while using the exact same template for both messages.

In response to the odd message, Irene tagged Red Velvet’s official Instagram account — managed by their agency SM Entertainment — without further comment. Seulgi accompanied the screenshot with an ironic emoji and also tagged the group’s official page, hinting at their shared bewilderment.
As of now, fellow Red Velvet members Wendy, Joy, and Yeri have not posted anything regarding the DM, suggesting that only Irene and Seulgi received the message.
Meanwhile, Irene, Seulgi, and Joy renewed their contracts with SM Entertainment last month, while Wendy and Yeri signed with different agencies but will continue to promote with the group under SM.
