Actor Kim Nam Gil shared the reason behind his unusually long fan meetings.
Appearing on tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' on April 8 KST, Kim Nam Gil talked about hosting fan meetings that often exceed five hours. He revealed that his latest event lasted 5 hours and 12 minutes, even after reducing the duration by about 30 minutes.
He explained that while fan meetings are typically planned for around two and a half hours, they tend to run much longer once they begin. “Just greeting fans takes about 30 minutes, and when fans talk, I try to respond to everything, so nothing goes according to the script,” he said.
Despite the extended duration, Kim acknowledged the financial burden, noting that longer events lead to increased costs. However, he emphasized that providing value for fans matters more. “There are suggestions to raise ticket prices, but I know how valuable fans’ money is, so I want to make it worthwhile,” he shared.
He added that fans have become accustomed to the lengthy format, with some even booking accommodations in advance. “Now some expect six or seven hours. There are even ideas about making it a one night, two day event,” he joked.
Kim Nam Gil also shared his mother’s advice, recalling that she told him not to make the fan meetings too long out of consideration for fans who might feel obligated to stay.
