A recent update featuring NewJeans member Danielle has stirred speculation and confusion among fans after being abruptly deleted.
On May 19, Emotional Oranges, a Los Angeles-based R&B and pop duo known for their futuristic sound, shared a photo with Danielle on their international social media account. The post included a collaboration emoji featuring an orange, representing the duo, and a bunny, symbolizing NewJeans. Alongside the image was a caption reading, "Hang tight. Coming soon," which strongly hinted at a potential solo release from Danielle.
In the photo, Danielle appears in denim jeans, a hooded jumper, and sunglasses, exuding a laid-back yet stylish look. The teaser quickly caught attention, particularly given the current situation surrounding NewJeans. The group has halted activities after expressing their intention not to return to their agency ADOR.
However, the post was soon deleted. While many fans initially welcomed the idea of Danielle's solo comeback, the sudden removal of the post left them confused and curious.
Just a few days earlier, on May 16, Emotional Oranges released their full-length album "Orenjii" on major global music platforms. The album features collaborations with well-known artists including NCT’s Jaehyun, Jessie Reyez, Becky G, Anitta, and Isaiah Falls, which elevated the album's visibility and appeal.
Emotional Oranges, composed of Azad and Vali, debuted in 2019 and have become known for their experimental and genre-blending sound, with tracks like 'Motion' and 'Personal.' They gained further recognition through their trilogy series 'The Juice.' With more than 670 million cumulative streams, they have performed at high-profile festivals such as 'Lollapalooza,' 'Coachella,' and Something in the Water. In Korea, their 'House of Wonder' performance sold out entirely.
Meanwhile, NewJeans remains embroiled in a legal battle with ADOR. Since November last year, the group has been seeking to terminate their exclusive contracts. The court ruled in favor of ADOR by approving an injunction that restricts the members from signing new advertising or promotional deals.
Although the members appealed the decision, insisting they would not return to ADOR, their independent activities under the name 'NJZ' have effectively been put on hold. As a result, the group is currently on hiatus.
