On May 24, Netflix Korea's official YouTube channel released a video titled "Season 3 Clue Inspection(?), Lee Jung Jae & Lee Byung Hun & Director Hwang Dong Hyuk Speak Out | 'Squid Game 3'". In the video, the director and lead actors of 'Squid Game' responded to questions from fans around the world, offering intriguing insights and playful reactions regarding the upcoming third season.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk, along with actors Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun, discussed various fan theories. These ranged from the Front Man’s origin to speculation about clues hidden in previous seasons.

A fan from Mexico suggested that the Front Man must have cheated several times to win the game in the past. Lee Byung Hun replied that while it might not have been outright cheating, winning by any means, even if unfair, was likely the goal.

Another fan from Korea claimed that the game arena walls in Seasons 1 and 2 offer hints about the games in Season 3. They mentioned potential games like Cloud Ladder, Human Chess, and Yut Nori. In response, Director Hwang explained that while Season 1 included Easter eggs on the walls, the same approach was not repeated in Season 2. He confirmed that there are no hidden hints on the walls this time.

One Korean fan speculated that the teaser includes a scene resembling the traditional game 'Dong, Dong, Dongdaemun.' They pointed to lined-up heads on a railway and the changing sky around Young Hee, the giant doll. Director Hwang commented that many fans are making interesting guesses and assured viewers that they will soon find out the truth.

A different Mexican fan theorized that Young Il might be the son of Oh Il Nam, referencing the characters’ shared lactose intolerance. A Korean fan also noted that actor David Lee, credited as VIP 3 in Season 1, might be Min Su, a character infiltrating the games. Director Hwang responded that David’s English name may be contributing to the speculation. He confirmed that VIPs will return in Season 3 and encouraged viewers to watch and see whether Min Su appears among them.

Director Hwang jokingly asked if that would make Gi Hun and Young Il half-brothers. Lee Byung Hun shared that there were so many theories about Young Il being Il Nam’s son that he had asked the director during filming. Hwang replied that the idea was used to provoke the audience, not confirm a relationship. He also clarified that lactose intolerance does not necessarily mean a father-son connection.

A fan from Thailand predicted that player 456, Gi Hun, would eventually become the Front Man. Lee Byung Hun said that this theory was already circulating before Season 2 was released. He added that he knows the outcome but will not spoil it.

Director Hwang posed a question about whether someone would really become the Front Man even after taking home 900 billion KRW (approximately $658.14 million) without paying taxes. Lee Jung Jae responded by wondering if the desire for power is part of human nature and questioned why fans are so focused on that idea.

Lee Byung Hun added with a laugh that based on some comments, it seems like Gi Hun, Young Il, and Min Su could all be sons of Oh Il Nam. He joked that Il Nam might have had many children. Hwang joined in, saying that even Jun Ho could be a half-brother. He joked that a family reunion would be very entertaining.

Lee Byung Hun mentioned that one of the fan questions was partially right and partially wrong. Director Hwang admitted that some fan theories do contain a degree of truth.

'Squid Game 3' will be released exclusively on Netflix on June 27.
