YouTuber Tzuyang walks out of police questioning, vows to fight cyber harassment

On the morning of April 16th KST, YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung Won), who boasts over 10 million subscribers, appeared at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul for questioning related to a defamation case she filed—but left after just 30 minutes, declining to proceed with the investigation.

Her legal representative, attorney Kim Taeyeon, stated, “It seemed as if the police didn’t recognize her as a victim or intend to protect her. We began to doubt whether this would be a fair investigation. So, we’ve decided to reconsider the questioning and may return if necessary.”

Tzuyang had previously filed charges of defamation, intimidation, and coercion against Kim Se Ui, CEO of the controversial right-wing YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute. However, police dropped the case earlier, citing lack of evidence and the withdrawal of the complaint—a decision Tzuyang formally contested.

She was summoned again after prosecutors ordered a supplementary investigation into the matter.

Speaking before her brief appearance, Tzuyang said, “It was painful to learn that someone who has harassed me and those around me with false allegations wasn’t charged. I came here hoping to explain things fully and help reach a better conclusion.”

Her attorney also revealed that courts had twice granted temporary restraining orders recognizing Kim Se Ui as a stalker, and emphasized that Tzuyang endured “30 to 40 instances of harassment” between July and October of last year.

One of the main controversies involves a leaked recording in which YouTubers allegedly discuss how to extort money using sensitive personal details about Tzuyang’s private life. Kim Se Ui later published a “reveal video” accusing her of wrongdoing, even after she claimed she had been coerced by an abusive ex-boyfriend into working at an adult venue.

Tzuyang’s team denied claims that she voluntarily withdrew her original complaint, clarifying that the decision to drop one case was a strategic move to refile with a more appropriate police jurisdiction.

In a moment of emotional honesty, Tzuyang explained her motivation: “What was even harder than being personally attacked was seeing those around me get hurt. I was scared to fight back, but I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did. That’s why I’m committed to speaking out and cooperating with the investigation.”
