MAMAMOO’s Whee In recently shared her thoughts on being without an agency during her appearance on the February 14 episode of 'The Seasons: Lee Young Ji’s Rainbow' on KBS 2TV.
Whee In, who has been busy with solo concerts and overseas tours, revealed, “Right now, I’m a free agent. I’m a free spirit.” Host Lee Young Ji chimed in, saying, “Everyone’s curious about who will sign Whee In next.”
While acknowledging that many agencies have reached out to her, Whee In explained, “I’m still taking my time to think things through.” When asked about the advantages and disadvantages of being a free agent, she candidly said, “Honestly, the best part is that all the earnings come directly to me. It’s all my money,” and laughed.
MAMAMOO had previously made headlines for generating 20.2 billion KRW (approximately 14 million USD) in annual revenue, proving their immense success.
However, Whee In also pointed out the downsides of not having an agency, saying, “I have to handle everything on my own. Even small things, like renting a car, I have to take care of it myself. Things aren't as convenient.”
When asked what kind of agency she’s looking for, Whee In emphasized the importance of work-life balance. She explained, “I love making albums and working on music, but I also need time to rest. I wasn’t able to do that before, so now I value it even more.”
She also took a moment to promote herself, saying, “I can excel in any genre and have a distinctive vocal tone. I also take good care of my staff, which is why many of them have been with me for 8–9 years. People appreciate that about me.”
