Han Ga In to address parenting struggles on ‘You Quiz on the Block’ amid ‘Daechi Mom’ parody controversy.
Actress Han Ga In, who recently became entangled in controversy following comedian Lee Su Ji’s ‘Daechi Mom’ parody, will open up about the realities of parenting on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’, airing today (February 26) at 8:45 PM KST.
On February 24, the official YouTube channel of ‘You Quiz on the Block’ released a preview of Han Ga In’s episode. The actress, who married Yeon Jung Hoon on April 26, 2005, and gave birth to their daughter Yeon Jae Yi in 2016, will share her personal parenting experiences on the show.
Now a seasoned mother, Han Ga In recalls an amusing exchange with her firstborn daughter about attending a new academy. She explained, “I told her, ‘Try going twice, and if you still feel the same, you can stop.’ But she immediately responded, ‘If I go twice, I’m never going again!’”—a moment that brought her unexpected joy.
However, Han Ga In also gets emotional when reflecting on her own childhood. In response to the growing perception that she is an overly strict or controlling mother due to Lee Su Ji’s parody, she tearfully shared, “My mother never once came to pick me up. Even though I knew she wouldn’t come, I always waited for her.”
She continued in the interview, “On the outside, I seemed strong, but I always felt the pressure to be smart, capable, and do everything well.”
The controversy stems from Lee Su Ji’s viral parody video, ‘A Day in the Life of Jamie’s Mom, Lee So Dam’, uploaded to her YouTube channel on February 4.
In the video, Lee Su Ji humorously portrays an overzealous mother navigating her 4-year-old child’s intense academic schedule, including dropping her off at multiple academies and eating meals in the car—a routine eerily similar to the one Han Ga In previously shared in a YouTube video. This sparked speculation that Lee Su Ji’s parody was inspired by Han Ga In’s real-life parenting style, leading to criticism and misunderstandings.
Han Ga In’s full interview on ‘You Quiz on the Block’ airs tonight (February 26) at 8:45 PM KST on tvN, where she will address the controversy and discuss her honest thoughts on parenting.
