The wishes of webtoon fans have been granted, with actress Kim Tae Ri confirmed as the lead character of the upcoming pansori drama, 'Jeong-nyeon'!

Based off of a popular webtoon series, 'Jeong-nyeon' takes place in the 1950's immediately after the end of the Korean war, when a young girl with a gifted voice begins her journey to becoming a member of the all-female, national theater troupe. 

Actress Kim Tae Ri has been cast as the female lead Jeong Nyeon, a pansori-genius hailing from Mokpo. Opposite her, Shin Ye Eun joins the cast as Young Seo, a girl talented in singing, dancing, and acting, not to mention she's from a wealthy family. She goes on to become Jeong Nyeon's fierce rival. 

Next, Ra Mi Ran takes on the role of Kang So Bok, the charismatic leader of Maeran Theater Troupe. Furthermore, actress Moon So Ri will make a special appearance in the story as Jeong Nyeon's mother, Seo Yong Rye. 

Webtoon fans have been dying to see this pansori masterpiece come to life in drama form, and now, filming with this stellar new cast will begin some time in September. 'Jeong-nyeon' is expected to premiere next year in 2024.
