Jihyo reveals TWICE members didn't know they would all renew contracts with JYP Entertainment

Jihyo revealed the TWICE members didn't know they would all renew contracts with JYP Entertainment.

TWICE are ready to return with their 11th mini album 'Between 1&2' on August 26 KST, but Jihyo revealed things could have been different. As fans know, all 9 members of TWICE renewed their contracts with JYPE this past July, but it seems they didn't know everyone would sign with the label once again.

In a recent interview with 'GRAMMY' magazine, Jihyo revealed, "We didn't realize all the members renewed their contracts until right before the official announcement." Fans are surprised to hear Jihyo's statement as the TWICE members are said to be close, and they're also noting the girl group survived the "7-year curse," which refers to the fact that K-pop groups often face a crisis in the 7th year of their debut.

Are you looking forward to TWICE's comeback?

Its likely one or several members weren't sure of renewing their contracts. So everyone was being considerate by not discussing it (hence not putting pressure on anyone to renew).

This 'vow of silence' is an incredibly kind gesture. Show how much they care for each other.

I would assume there's some form of clause in their original contracts that forbids discussing renewals with each other. This could prevent bad scenarios where one member gets pressured into renewing just because everyone else is, but also means that the company might avoid a domino effect where one girls says she's leaving and the others follow suit.
