Netizens believe that the way idols are being treated after COVID-19 scandal is too much

Earlier this week Dispatch reported that Jungkook of BTSMingyuof SeventeenJaehyun of NCT, and Cha Eun Woo of Astro went to two different  clubs in Itaewon on April 25th where someone had been found to have tested positive for COVID-19. These idols had previously been tested for the coronavirus and they all tested negative.

The labels of these idols have confirmed that they did attend the clubs in Itaewon and apologies were sent out for each of them, but it didn’t stop there. Even after the apologies these idols are still getting a lot criticism for their actions. Some are even going as far as starting a petition to revoke Jungkook’s Order of Cultural Merit medal that BTS was given in 2018. Others have even gone as far as to say that the handwritten apology letters by Jaehyun and Cha Eun Woo were fake as they were “too similar.”

While there are some netizens that believe this punishment is necessary, there are a lot that think this is going too far as apologies were already made and BigHit Entertainment stated “He did not go to the problematic place where the patient in early May had the confirmed case, and he went about a week beforehand in their statement.

“I don’t know man, I think people need to stop punishing these guys. Apologies have been issued and they acknowledged their wrongdoing”

“This is actually ridiculous. Go waste your time doing something else.”

“The fact that the knetz are picking apart the letters...wow that is actually pretty sad”

“...I am just confused about the policy of S. Korea. Why have these clubs open if they don’t want people to go?”
