YG Entertainment refuses to give official statement on assault controversy surrounding Seungri's club 'Burning Sun'

YG Entertainment has refused to give an official statement on the assault controversy surrounding Seungri's club 'Burning Sun'.

Netizens and fans have been wondering if the agency would comment on the allegations about the staff of the Big Bang member's business, but YGE responded to media, simply stating, "We will not be releasing any official statement whatsoever." Seungri himself has yet to give an official statement as well.

With the statement to press, YG Entertainment seems to be separating itself from the controversy altogether.

Stay tuned for updates.

I rarely agree with what yg does, but in this case i think is the right move not to say anything. This bussiness belongs to seungri and has nothing to do with yg. Seungri needs to step foward and explain and most importantly fix the situation. If yg gets involved people are going to accuse him of covering up this situation.

The police didn't even mention him

The victims didn't even mention him

He isn't the CEO

He's only one of share holders

But yet you want to point him as the wrong one and did all the wrong? What the hell is wrong with you, put you hate on the once that actually did the wrong.

This happened in december last year, Seungri only resigned a week ago.. obviously people want his statement due to the report of police cover ups/bribing.. even if he didnt partake in anything he was still CEO during the time.

Obviously people want the people doing this to be punished.. but it is not unreasonable to question Seungri in how much he knew.. it is not like people are saying they want Seungri punished and let the guilty walk free

This case is terrible and someone needs to take responsibility. I agree with what Awesomeness1111 said, but for different reasons. Seungri was at least partly involved in the business. Even if that doesn't make him directly responsible for the outcome, he still has more influence than the average Joe.

He should issue an official statement, even if it doesn't resolve anything. But I think it would be helpful for people to see someone with a broader range of influence take a stand.

I can understand that. It's honestly not their fault or their problem. They don't have anything to apologize for and they likely know about as much as the general public. Seungri should make some kind of statement though. Maybe after the investigation is done they'll say something then.

honestly what happened was horrible and those who are involved should be in jail

the guy who dragged that girl and the staffs that didnt care like they are so used to it. all those people should get arrested they should also investigate if they paid money to hide the truth

Seungri LEFT his Burning Sun co-owner position already as his name is not there at the Burning Sun homepage, so he's NOT one of the club owners already and YG Ent don't need to give any statement about this issue.

He was an owner at the time of the incidents and as an owner, he is a direct report for CEOs. Also doesn't look good when he has pictures of him partying and eating meals with the CEOs who are accused of drugging.

Actually the victim who is suing did mention Seungri. He hashtagged Seugri's name on the government petition he is sending to the President. Being a shareholder means he's a leader of the company. Accountability always starts at the top. Just like at a school where a teacher is sexually harassing a student or company where a manager is abusing its workers, the owner also shares part of the blame. People who are saying Seungri isn't to blame are also the same people who blame YG for every little thing that goes wrong in YG Entertainment.

Allkpop needs to verify this and publish their findings. Otherwise, they're complicit in trying to harm Seungri.

But he was partly involved in the business (financially). If this was part of the reason he left, he shouldn't expect to not be asked for a statement.

Why would YG Entertainment have to give any statement. YG doesn't own shares in BS so they are not involved. Seungri owns and works for other companies besides YG, should all of them make a statement on something they have nothing to do with to. If I messed up in my personal life, should my job make a statement about personal stuff they have nothing to do with. THAT IS ILLOGICAL. STOP TRYING TO CONNECT UNRELATED THINGS AND INCRIMINATE THEM! JUST STOP!

It's smart move eventhough he doesn't make many. Just imagine what would happen if they give a statement ? They will say YG is trying to cover the story up eventhough they have nothing to do with this.

Leave YG out of the picture for god’s sake. It is not the company’s story to tell. The best person to ask for a statement is owner of the club. No other people.

i think its interesting how people are saying seungri isn't involved at all. people are responsible for their businesses and employees

yg on the other hand isn't responsible for seungri's failing to uphold a reputable business so i guess i can understand them not commenting on it at all

Maybe because people are being more rational with this case? I mean I even agree what happened with Siwon is totally unfair. The way public scrutinized him for something that is not directly his fault is too much. The punishment and even the party that gets punished does not tally with the incident/act.

THE KNETZ NEVER LIKED SEUNGRI AND THINK HE SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR EVERYTHING EVEN WHEN FRICKIN ADULTS UNDER ALCOHOL INFLUENCE SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE + THE CORRUPT POLICE.

YG and seungri should NOT have to answer to any of this shit. ya'll dont buy seungris products even when he WAS without a controversy.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED: The club threw Kim out of BS because he harassed women in the club. This exact man had already two precedents of sexual misconduct! And what did Kim do after that? He said he protected a woman of drugs & rape with the 'proof' being a video of a drunk woman, from a different day, that HIT staff inebriated & was dragged out.

RECEIPTS to prove Seungri is innocent:

The TRUTH about the CCTV footage (translation of a Letter From The Security):

"The woman provoked and attacked other guests, and broke the laptop when we were trying to stop her. When she was brought out, before the police came, I was beside her. She hit me and another staff by the face with her fist, we didn’t do anything. She was rude to the police as well. She was brought to the police station due to vandalism, violence and interference of public duties. The next day, she paid compensations and wrote a letter and bought a new computer."

Was Seungri there? NO HE WASN'T. Burning Sun has already clarified that he was not there and was not involved in any of the incidents. Seungri went to Hyoyeon's show, which was on the 23rd of November not the 24th

Is Seungri the CEO? NO! According to an ex-BS official, Seungri was NEVER the CEO! He is an INVESTOR and only a publicity representative of the club, so he has no says in how the club is managed. The most recent update of the company analysis report is from 2018/05 and proves there were at the time only two CEOs, the current ones: Lee Moonho and Lee Seonghyun (not Lee Seunghyun, which is Seungri's real name. There is a difference!!)

Are the incidents RELATED? NO! According to the security, Kim was hit on 24/11 and the women was dragged out of the club on 1/12!

and for those who will say "seungri have nothing to do with this" if so he should speak up and say: I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS, and not give the silent treatment they usually do...

Seems like the media is targeting Seungri. Maybe it would of been better to enlist with his members and avoid all these conflicts and have an early comeback after the military.

Fights happen all the time in public places. The company nor their owner need to make a statement to the press. The situation was handled and that's that. What is the point of a statement?

YG doesn't have to do anything. This is one of his artist's personal businesses. Let the police conduct their investigation before everyone drags YG.

So if YG won't give a statement then Seungri has to give one. This is really bad and I think it will affect Big Bang too if it is not handled correctly. Big Bang members will be coming back from the army this summer and needless to say a comeback if any is basically off the table if they don't handle this controversy properly. Just so much has happened with YG and he's already lost the public's trust they really need to handle this carefully. It could be the end of Big Bang and artists under YG. I'm really worried that the Treasure box kids won't make a debut either because we know YG wouldn't take the risk. Also iKON is still signed to this label so this controversy HAS TO BE HANDLED CORRECTLY. YG please take care of this correctly.

Nothing to do with them. Correct call imo for this case. Not like the company owns the nightclub. What Seungri does with his money is his own responsibility. And the things that arise from it. And his name popped up just because he was a shareholder at one time it seems. Is he still a shareholder? If he isn't anymore the bloody media really have nothing better to do.

"With the statement to press, YG Entertainment seems to be separating itself from the controversy altogether."

As always. And we all know to where it leads (Park Bom). It's just a matter of time until Seungri faces a similar thing.
R.I.P his career

That's not quite true. YGE and even YG himself did a lot for Park Bom's case. YG even released personal letter defending Bom. But it's not enough as public keep on scrutinizing Bom for it. He even tried to make a surprise stage during MAMA 2015 to see people's reactions if it's acceptable, but it still didn't work out. Then, only later on he starts to drop the bomb.

Share

idk if you're just a YG hater or don't have all your facts straight. What L_catzzz said- YG was the one who told everyone about Bom's reason for taking the medication and stood up for her. He even had 2NE1 perform in MAMA in Hong Kong in 2015- over a year after the incident. Bom also sang in 2NE1's final track. Just because you hate YG doesn't mean you can ignore basic facts.
