Nilo and Shaun officially announced innocent of sajaegi accusations

NILO & SHAUN

South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) officially announced Shaun and Nilo are innocent of the sajaegi (chart manipulation) accusations.

On January 31, the MCST confirmed to YTN Star that based on their investigation it's difficult to consider the two singers' music chart activities as sajaegi.

The MCST stated they did not notice any unusualness but rather saw similar patterns when they analyzed and compared the controversial songs to three other tracks. A rep stated, "The main focus of the investigation was to see if it were different from the way of normal music streaming. There were no major differences between the controversial songs and the three other tracks."

Following the confirmation from MCST, Shaun's agency DCTOM Entertainment announced they will continue to take strong action against acts defaming the artist and the company.

They're never going to, people have a hard time admitting that they were wrong.

Damn I didn't believe them but I didn't accuse them either. I only follow kpop via variety shows and these guys to me blew up hella.

No disrespect to them and I hope they keep on having their success!

There was never a reason to doubt Nilo. It's understandable for international fans to not know since they mostly consume k-pop, but a good ballad song will usually kill charts. Think of Yoon Jong Shin's song "Like It" which slayed charts for months even though it only gained popularity through word-of-mouth. Or Ben, who was also being accused of sajaegi fairly recently. Park Hyo Shin is also (in)famous for topping charts whenever he releases a song, to the point that snooty fans mention about how idols need to watch out. It's mostly young and overzealous fans of boy/girl groups who can't accept that someone beat their favorite artists.

kpop was never about talent it’s about who has the biggest fandom. People were mad bec actual talented artists surpassed their faves.

They even made a verb out of Nilo’s name and thrashed both of them. How can they recover when this is just a “side news” with everything that’s happening.

Anyways stream them both, Shaun’s bad habits and nocturnal both amazing

Kpop has many talented artists too. The fandoms go too far sometimes, but that doesn't mean that the idols they support are meritless.

(Also, Shaun has an excellent discography. Check it out! "Bad Habits' is a bop.)

I thought this statement had a 2nd part where they say that they will forward this issue to some other organization for further investigation.

Yeah, you're right.

“In the end, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism stated that they will be transferring the analyzed data over to an investigative agency to further continue the investigation.“

I remember when the sajaegi issue surfaced. All the ppl started wondering why the Shaun's song was accused, and went to check the MV (me included), and we all went like: "wow, now I know why this is peaking. Awesome song!" (you can check it in the MV's coments). So yeah, the accusation helped the song even chart higher (which it totally deserves -as an example, now I stan Shaun too-).

So yeah, I'm happy it was clarified and his named cleaned~

Fuck yes. Been supporting shaun since the accusation on him came out. His song is good and people are hating on him because he surpassed their idol's song. Since yall here check out the controversial song Way Back Home by Shaun and theres new eng. ver covered by Connor Maynard go check it out! The eng. ver came out on radio in my country and i'm super proud of Shaun. He deserved the love. And the whole album is a bop. I love every track you should check him out. xo
