Fans start a government petition against Dispatch after Kai and Jennie's dating news

Some fans want to shut down Dispatch.

Every year, media outlet Dispatch breaks top celebrity dating news on January 1. In 2019, the hot figures to make headlines are Black Pink's Jennie and EXO's Kai. The dating news came with photos of their secretive dates

Several hours following the news, SM Entertainment announced Kai and Jennie "have mutual feelings for each other." YG Entertainment remained silent but the official statement from Kai's agency was enough for fans to confirm Kai and Jennie are indeed a couple.

Both netizens and fans gave mixed reactions - some showed support for the young stars, while some fired criticism. There are also a group of fans who are targeting Dispatch. These fans claim Dispatch violated celebrities' privacy and are demanding the shut down of the media outlet.

A government petition with the title, 'Please shut down Dispatch which violates celebrities' privacy,' 'Demanding the shutdown of Dispatch,' 'Dispatch is violating privacy,' and more are being posted on the official The Blue House website.

Is Dispatch going too far or are these fans overreacting? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Where was the outrage after dispatch did the same last year? It is only because these two are in 2 of the most popular groups. Netizens start petitions over anything, when will they realise doing this actually hinders meaningful petitions?

Because last year's was old tea. GD's and Jooyeon's dating scandal broke in November but they denied it so disbatch dropped more pics on new years and everyone was pretty unimpressed as it was old tea.

And in 2017 they were covering the presidents scandal so they didn't drop any dating news. So this is really the first time since 2016 that the reveal mattered. But fans start a petition every time disbatch breaks any celb gossip.

Lmao these fans are not fine with dispatch invading privacy, but when it comes to starvation, overwork, bullying of idols, etc by a company, they don’t give a fuck. Try and petition for letting idols have more spare time, more food to eat, or other shit that is actually more dehumanizing.

All of it is bad. And don't you think reporters stalking idols is dehumanizing? Granted a lot of fans stalk their idols as well but so does the media. Not being able to do things because you worry someone with a camera is following you is just as horrible as the other things you mentioned.

Idols have a choice to enter the company and compete, which involves intense training and dieting because of the competition from other companies/groups.

Idols don't have a choice when it comes to low-rate "journalists" stalking them and ruining their lives by releasing their personal relationships/information to the public.

If idols are being starved, overworked, bullied they can leave the company/file a lawsuit. It's because they aren't being treated this way that they choose to stay.

A petition asking for the government to shut down a private company? These fans are swimming in dangerous waters. They don't seem to understand what kind of Pandora's box that would open.

Share

I agree the government shutting down private media outlets is never a good thing, and people asking for it is just as bad. But maybe petition for stricter stalking laws and broader guidelines for media outlets. I personally think it's very important to know how reporters get their information, especially when it comes to things like this.

Share

I agree why not lobby for stricter laws related to stalking and invasion of privacy? This would not only change the way journalists and the media obtain their information, but it would also come with huge ramifications for sasaengs. They violate more than anyone out here to be honest. People are sometimes so shortsighted when it comes to situations like this. Going after Dispatch alone does nothing. Creating laws that will protect idols and the public, well Dispatch will have no choice but to comply with following the law.

but where was the petition against cube?? there was a petition to get E’Dawn out of Pentagon!! or what dispatch did to gdragon? what i mean is there is worse cases, not saying its a bad thing but Kneitzens need to keep this same attitude for all idols i think it will not shut down but instead of trying to shut down dispatch i think simply knetizens should be openminded then even if a couple is revealed they will not get kicked out, what affect idols is how knetizens (their fans) do when they know about dating news

Petition against Cube for what? Tbh Cube didn't do anything wrong. They literally have no dating ban. Hyojong and Hyuna CHOSE to lie and hide for 2 years and leave on their own free will. That isn't Cube's fault at all.

Share

You have to be an idiot to think Hyuna and E'dawn where ''hiding''. Cube already knew about the relationship okay.

Share

1

its not acceptable to kick someone out because they are dating what cube did is so wrong and was so ungrateful to hyuna after she worked with them for many years, then when they realised they are losing more money when they decided to kick them out they are quick to take back their words but good hyuna know her worth.

what lying are you talking about, companies are the one who force their celebrities to hide their relationships, hyuna had enough and clearly wanted her relationship to be public

Okay this is dumb because 1) you're getting mad out Dispatch for doing their job 2) idols knew that with fame means that they loose things like idk... PRIVACY half you fans don't even respect their privacy so zip it 3) it's a win-win situation lowkey because it gives those idols publicity as well as for themselves.

The request for shutting down Dispatch is like asking the news to be shutdown for REPORTING THE NEWS. We should put a ban on fans having cameras because it violates the idols privacy \o_o/. Stop being annoying. Thier jobs put money on the table and it's what the people want to know anyways. Half yall on this bandwagon shutdown when in reality you were freaking out either excited or upset because of the fact and keeping tabs to know more.

Share

But why does fame mean having to lose their privacy? Who decided that? Why isn't it wrong? Why can't they be treated like human beings? Maybe these are the questions that lead to depression in idols and you're a part of the problem. It's not a low-key win-win it's actually a low-key lose-lose because more important stories like issues with society are buried underneath these dating news and now the spotlight is so bright on their relationship, it causes a strain on both their professional and personal lives. Also speak for yourself when you say everyone was freaking out over this news. Only toxic lowlives like you care about celebrity relationships.

There's something called reasonable expectation of privacy. If you are in a public area then you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. If you are in a private changing room then you do have a reasonable expectation of privacy so that would be illegal. That's why you can take photos of people on the streets but not through the windows of their homes.

See, what you've just done is as irrational as these petitioners. You've taken a statement and twisted it into something completely hyperbolic. Of course you can't take pictures of people changing in a private location, there are laws for that and I think you damn well know there are. Those privacy rights exist and are evolving all the time.

taking pic of people without their permission itself is violating the law.. also dating of 2 idols has nothing to do with news.. its a normal thing.. these so called journalist dont have the back-bone to go after people at the top.. these idols are soft targets.. they dont have to risk anything and can buy bread and butter by exposing private life of other people...

this dispatch dont go after the sexual abuse or power abuse happening in the industry.. those are much more news worthy than 2 20+ celebs dating..

Netizens are overreacting lmfao. Petitioning against someone who exposed those two? Honestly some netizens literally want to violate celebrity's privacy and I'm pretty sure they'd also want to know about their relationships and what not. I'm pretty sure those who made those petitions are pretty much people that can't accept their relationship. Of course there may be some that may be doing this cause they're worried about YG's strict rules and its impact it'll have on BLACKPINK or what not after the exposure of this relationship by Dispatch (thus attempting to create this petition), but Jennie should've stayed clean and should've not dated.

I mean I get the idea behind it and all and it's a good idea, but is no one gonna talk about how Dispatch actaully asks the labels before sharing the news??? They said it themselves and neither of the labels denied it. That is actually why so many people were done with YG because they acted like they didn't know when they did. Also, not at EXO-L who act like they care about privacy and all when a lot of them were exposed yesterday for stealing people's phone numbers to vote for EXO and actually broke the law. Lmao the hypocrisy jumped.

Fans are mad at dispatch for doing what fans normally do and get paid for doing it while fans don’t? Or am I missing something and fans do get paid for violating idols’ privacy? I don’t know why fans are mad when you got sasaengs. And you also have the fans that show up in masses at airports just to get a picture. The double standard these fans have is about as bad as the double standard between male and female idols in Korea lol

I think this is unrealistic to actually achieve, but I fully understand their motivation behind this. It's really sad how Dispatch (or other media) sort of makes a "game" out of peoples' private lives, spying on celebrities and then choosing someone to expose at every New Year for some good headlines.

It's frustrating but I honestly don't think the fans will have success with making the government shut Dispatch down, sadly.

I can only guess which group of fans came up with the petition idea to shut down dispatch XD

But, these celebs were given enough support that many others did not get. Look at Hyuna and E'dawn! I mean its great of their fans and agencies to be supportive (YG must be still in shock ;P) but people should move on n let them live their lives. The petition only makes the situation worse and put more limelight onto this. Plus it is Dispatch's job to do this, I don't support paps invading people's private life either but its done!

These idols deserve to have private love lives and they should not be hiding it due to fear of public retribution.

It's not like Dispatch broke into their homes or vehicles to get these shots. They were literally in public. It's hard to claim "invasion of privacy" while in a public place. Dispatch might be a bit unsavory in some people's minds, but no laws were broken. People should seriously turn their attention to sasaengs who do in fact break the law and put idols in harm's way. That is a petition worth signing.

i cannot believe how many people actually support dispatch in this comment session..

the petition might not have any kind of effect on dispatch but it at least shows not all fans are happy with their idol's private life being exposed.. idols are humans and they cannot date openly because of how south korea works.. its not their fault.. they have every right to date and fall in love.. if the circumstances dont allow them to go public there is no fault in keeping it a secret..

what dispatch does is invading the privacy of these idols.. they already go through a lot and get criticized for everything they do.. the least these idols can have is a normal love life..

for people saying press freedom.. invading the privacy of idols have nothing to do with press freedom... idols dating has no impact on a nation or its citizen.. these are just cheap publicity and living off on human's interest in other people's life and their habit of poking there nose into other people's private matter..

just because dispatch has been doing this for eyes or just because other fandoms didnt show their anger on dispatch doesnt mean its okay to continue to do so.. if people are finally trying to go against dispatch and are supportive of idols dating in peace then everyone should support it as well..

Okay yes I wouldn't want someone diving into my personal life, but when you are a celebrity, all of that information is exposed. So its not some kind of special thing thats ONLY happening to them, its for EVERY celebrity. And getting mad at every single media company there is out there probably isn't that mature. And neither is getting mad ato only one for only one specific situation. They are only doing their jobs. And Im quite positive both Kai and Jennie knew what they were getting into when they joined the groups. And please, if you have nothing nice to say about their relationship, don't say anything at all. It is THEIR relationship, NOT yours. Worry about yourself, not two people who you barely know and don't own.

Stop overreacting. Dispatch dont deserve any petition. Why dont we think otherwise. Korean idol need to openly or freely dating with another like what western celeb do.

I feel like korean idol is in ‘relationship’ same as does crimial: will gain critic, bullying, hatred.

If u want dispatch has nothing to do is letting kcelebs freely seeing someone, no need to hid their realtinship as well, so whats the point of Dispatch stalk them.

Come on guys.. korean agencies need revolution and knetz need to realize that their idol not their doll, do whatever u want. Why dont we accept who dating with who, please see ur idol as someone or group who talented: able to compose great song, dance well, great in sing a song, etc.

I even feel happy every time Dispatch reveal the relationship of k-celebs bcoz if they are in relationship means they are in blossom happy 💏💑 like when we are in, and did u know dating can make u grow mentally.

Go go Dispatch

Look do I like what there doing no, but dear people there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public venue. Unless these were taken in a dressing room, there home, or at there agency there is literally nothing illegal about it.

the problem with them is, how they pay for such pictures taken by voyeur like piece of shits and thats just disgusting.

celebrities are already under constant stress in their freetime and already try to avoid busy places, just to have their peace. especially when they fall in love with someone and end up dating, some arent even allowed to date, so its these assholes who could ruin their carreer with such sad pictures, showing that they seriously have to fear to even start dating someone.

the worst part even is, when theyre just friends and go out and they still make such pics and without even getting any confirmation, they already start spreading dating rumors and if they really are just friends, these news only makes their friendship incredibly awkward and they will think twice, before they want to spend some time just with friends.

its one of the reasons why they end up being depressed and cant really be happy. the country itself has a hard work ethics, so many people dont directly have a problem with working hard, but when they cant even enjoy the little free time they have, makes it only harder for them. they cant even leave their homes in peace, its already hard to avoid busy places because everyone knows them, but when they cant even be left in peace in quite places and have such voyeurs hiding around, taking such pics and have these being released by such trash companies like dispatch, then it makes everything even harder for them and they cant even be happy in their free time.

this is a bigger reason why they end up being depressed, more than having to work hard, thats why at least that has to stop, or at least be reduced.

I think this is great, dispatch invades the lives and privacy of many people in K entertainment. Idc about others things or situations, all I know is that this is a good move to make. Fans of K entertainers are the target audience of dispatch, what a power move as fans to directly submit a petition against dispatch! They're taking a stand against something they can actually change, and I am all for it.

idc if they are overreacting, or if the petition has no effect, at least people are doing something, if this gets that crappy dispatch shutdown or at least put a stop to them doing these types of things, im all for it, heck id sign it , dispatch is sick in the way they stalk people , it really is a horrid invasion of privacy it isnt right, i heard they have " 4 more couple news " to drop this year but are using the pictures and info they got on the couples to get money from the idols companies not to publish it :/ i heard one of the couples is a LGBT couple in a very big boy group too :( can you imagine how horrified that couple is about being outed against theyre will, dispatch said they wouldnt release the pictures or names as of yet, cause quote on quote" they are good people " which is utter BS cause if they were good people they would be taking pictures of LGBT couples just so they can out them and blackmail them in the first place :/

seeing how there are some people downvoting this comment, shows how they dont even care how disgusting dispatch is, and that they only care about getting such pictures from disgusting voyeurs following celebrities around all day...

they are already very busy and cant even enjoy the little free time they have, because of that scum, that dispatch is even supporting with paying for the pics, or even sending them out themselves...

and still downvoting it...there are truly some disgusting people here...but most likely its from a hater who uses multiple accounts, there are 2 very disgusting haters like anpanman aka longan_lychee and ryenlux, aka stopudelulu and holdthisLnoobs, especially those 2 love to make fun of celebrities dying, as they did with jonghyun...

Sneaking around taking pictures of people and posting them without their permission, should be illegal! We should all be familiar with the social media disgrace called, SHAMING! If your sneaky pictures cause others emotional distress, and you post them without permission, you should be charged! I know many people, not just celebrities, who enter relationships, keep them private; until such time as they feel they can announce it to friends or family first! Common decency says privacy should be respected

Yeah that’s why you’re supporting a platform based on celebrity news and even made an account.

Cut it with your holier than tho attitude

lol nice try, look i dont like allkpop either, theyre almost as bad if not worse than dispatch is sometimes :/ the sad truth is tho that this platform is like one of the few news sources for kpop theyre is.. so its either dont use it or be outta the loop... just be cause you use it doesnt mean you have to support it tho, at least if your using it and watching and looking you can call em out when they do wrong , like dispatch is clearly in the wrong with the way they invade peoples privacy im glad people are calling them out for it
