A 37-year-old robber has been arrested.
On June 6, the Gyeongbuk police announced that the robber, who stole 20 million KRW (18,674 USD), at the Korea Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives in Yeongchun has been caught nearly 6 hours after the robbery.
A day earlier, the robber with a mask and a hat marched into the facility. He shoved a weapon against the female employee and demanded the male employee to put money into his bag. He then locked up both of the employees in a room and ran away.
The crime only took a minute and 40 seconds.
With the stolen money, he hopped on a truck that was waiting outside. The truck headed to his home in Daegu.
Then around 8 p.m. on June 5, the robber was arrested by the police who was able to find him based on the CCTV footage.
The robber revealed to have stolen 20 million KRW in total, however, only 7.4 million (6,909 USD) was left with him when the police caught him.
According to the police, the robber decided to commit the crime as he was struggling with debt. It's also revealed that the robber made multiple visits prior to his crime to examine the facility and its employees.
