Key revealed the story behind SHINee's debut.

On the March 14 airing of 'Keyword #BoA', Key surprised BoA as he revealed, "Did you know that SHINee wasn't originally a vocal group? Because we all sucked at singing."

Key explained, "We were planning to do mostly rap and add a bit of vocal. There was a candidate for our debut song. It was 80% rap and 20% vocals." However, Key stated that their lack of swag and Lee Soo Man's opposition to the rap song led to the song's cancellation and the birth of "Replay".

He said, "We ended up matching our skills to 'Replay'. We were so worried when we first got the guide track, but we were gradually able to match to it as we worked."
