'The Good Doctor' aired its first episode on September 25 which drew a rating of 2.2 for the coveted 18-49 demographic (11.2 million viewers). Following this, the second episode which was broadcast on October 2 was also very popular with a rating of 2.4.

Channing Dungey, the president of ABC Entertainment stated, "We are thrilled to announce that we are giving our viewers additional episodes of The Good Doctor."

In response to this, KBS America CEO Konshik Yu commented, "It's normal for a broadcast to experience a drop in viewer's ratings during the 2nd week, however, 'The Good Doctor' actually saw an increase."

Meanwhile, 'The Good Doctor' is the first Korean drama remake to air during prime-time on an American terrestrial broadcast network, not to mention getting a full season. With that being said, it seems a 2nd season may well be possible.
