Following the numerous rumors, it appears KBS' 2013 drama 'Good Doctor' has been green-lit for an American remake.

American television broadcasting station ABC has confirmed that starting in September, the American version will air at 10 pm Eastern Standard Time every Monday. ABC wrote, "Coming MONDAYS 10|9c this Fall to ABC. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore, Bates Motel), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital's surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues."

In response to this, KBS America CEO Konshik Yu stated, "This pilot was made possible after much discussion and evaluation.  In addition to gaining much popularity in Japan and China respectively, this will be a good opportunity for 'Good Doctor' to expand its horizons in entering the Western market."

The show is developed by David Shore and Korean-American actor Daniel Dae Kim of 'Lost' and 'Hawaii Five-0' fame. Sony Pictures is responsible for the production and with such names on board, this show has a lot of good things going for it.

As for the cast, English actor, Freddie Highmore will be playing Joo Won's character, while actress Antonia Thomas will be acting as co-star, taking on Moon Chae Won's role.

Freddie Highmore is a talented actor so I'm looking forward to what he will do in this remake 👍🏽

I feel like I have to set a quota on how many doctor dramas I watch, so next season I'll probably watch The Resident instead of this, lol. This trailer looks decent but it just doesn't feel like that original of a concept (and I'm not just talking about it being Korean in origin). There are already tons of doctor shows, and there are quite a few shows about a socially awkward autistic guy who's super smart. So unless this one gets outstanding reviews, I'll probably pass.

What i hate about American shows are that they drag it out forveeeever if it gains popularity and I have no patience for that.

OMG I saw the trailer and it looked really good. I had no idea it was originally a k-drama.

It was a good show, but knowing American medical dramas, it will just become a typical procedural. The Good Doctor is a very safe premise. I was actually hoping for the networks to choose one of the less-safe dramas that were originally put in development (Nine Time Travels, My Love From the Star). Certainly more risky premises, but they would've been more interesting.

This could be alright. Anyway, a lot of people don't like remakes - but this is a good drama to remake because it can raise awareness to developmental disorders (particularly autism). It'll be hard to beat Joo Won's portrayal of the main character but I hope the actor plays in the US version does well.
