Gong Yoo shared his thoughts on social media.

During a press conference prior to his Taiwan fan meeting, the actor was asked why he doesn't do social media.

Gong Yoo answered, "First of all, I don't like taking selcas. When I go somewhere, I prefer capturing the moment with my eyes rather than taking a photo." He continued, ''Why I personally don't like social media is because you're intending to show photos to others and that is most likely to make you create things. The act of showing a created photo and not portraying as it is... is a little uncomfortable for me."

He lastly added, "But each person probably have different opinions. It's not a matter of good or bad. This is just my personal thoughts."

I kinda agree with him to some point.. It's true, lots of people like to show off on social medial and that's a problem like he said... I totally respect his choice!! :)

I think especially in Korea, with all the crazies, it's just an easier life to live without social media or making it private so you don't have to deal with nasty anti-fans...

Well social media doesn't necessarily mean taking and posting selfies. You can share pro photos too. Photos aside, it's about connecting with people (fans in his case). You don't have to share photos (but I guess he's mostly talking about Instagram) But I can understand his ahjussi mind. There's nothing wrong with it.

Good!! I agree with Gong Yoo 100%. Besides having social media is such a headache. Just look what kind of stupid fucking idiotic comments even so-called ''fans’’ leave in their fave’s IG comments, just look at Kim Go Eun or Park Shin Hye’s comments. Full of friggin stupid low IQ fans bothering and interfering their personal lives like DAMN LET THEM FUCKING LIVE. It’s so much better to have a private account or no sns at all

I totally agree. How does taking 100 selfies of you on vacation actually help you remember the trip? Take a few shot of the experience and then just enjoy yourself.

I agree, what do we gain by exposing our lives to the whole world.

I suppose when you really think about it, acting is the same way.

Meh, there are clear differences. Actors are telling someone's (the writer's) story for them. They are given a script/scenario to play out for a profitable production, and given a vision to make it just right. Instagram is not a production and there is no script, considering it's their own personal account of their lives. However, there are many celebrities/people who portray all of this fakeness to gain/maintain a following, and meet their expectations. I guess he doesn't want that pressure.

I agree with you 100%. Just by looking at Kim Go Eun’s or Park Shin Hye’s IG comments, even by supposed fans writing so many idiotic comments when they don’t post ''enough’’ or don’t post selfies. Like.. the audacity they have to dictate them. Better not have any sns and that pressure

Seriously, I agree! Gong Yoo has amazing insight!
