J.Y. Park was the "Still Alive" guest on the April 20 episode of 'Weekly Idol,' where he gave the reason on why he dropped Jeon So Mi from 'Sixteen' last year, and subsequently from TWICE.  She has since become a part of temp group IOI after getting a lot of love through 'Produce 101.'

Defconn had asked him, "There is something I'd like to ask you personally. Why did you drop So Mi from 'Sixteen'"

A flustered J.Y. Park spilled, "She was a bit like geotjeori (unfermented kimchi). If the kimchi fermented a while longer, I felt that it would be very delicious."

The JYP head also added, "I'm proud of [So Mi]."

Tbh I'm glad that Somi followed JYP's advice about her looking at different directions (mostly up) while performing. :3 Somi improved too much in a matter of months! Somi fighting~

if you guys saw her in sixteen, she was a lot different back then (in terms of skills). she's grown a lot since.

He's actually right

BakaKaori Wednesday, April 20, 2016

I agree with his decision. Although she's good now, she's still young and I know she'll develop into an even better idol in the future. Another good reason for eliminating her is that whatever future group she debuts in will have have a large fan-base already built-in.

Well, he's not wrong, if it wasn't because Brow Eye Girl lead vocalist Somi would still have the same problem. She lacked sincerity in her singing.  Passion is there Sincerity is not, she wasn't selling it and Bet Brown eyes girls got that on point.I think she was also a bit full of herself and think she deserved it. Produce 101 taught her you deserve nothing and that everyone from different label want a piece of the pie and they would fight twice as hard for it than Somi. I think that was her wake up call and thanks to the trainers, she grew exponentially.

If they have the gift of gab why be an idol? So basically they're dancers? Lop

gwaltz Wednesday, April 20, 2016

his point is on point

Nutelladela Wednesday, April 20, 2016

I'd love to see her added to TWICE once her time with IOI is over :D

Nutelladela Thursday, April 21, 2016

why the dislikes? :c

Snsd0325 Nutelladela Thursday, April 21, 2016

Cause some people like Twice just the way they are. There are already some members who don't get enough attention or lines, adding another member who is already popular will make it worse

Nutelladela Snsd0325 Thursday, April 21, 2016

Their line distribution in Like Ohh Ahh seemed really equal though, and I think Somi would bring the vocal ability that everyone is criticizing TWICE for lacking

sototallyrandom Nutelladela Thursday, April 21, 2016

It didn't seem equal for me, sorry... Jungyeon didn't get much lines, and Jihyo was adlibing on Jungyeon's part so yeah...

Keepinitkreal Nutelladela Thursday, April 21, 2016

Cause twice is a shit show

Agreed Jungyeon only got 1 chorus part and supposedly the lead vocal but doesnt get enough lines. I seriously hope they are doing what they did with Youngjae from GOT7. GOT7's debut song didn't have much of Youngjae but their second song, he got the chorus. @Nutelladela Even if their lines distribution was a bit equal, what about popularity? There are already members who are not even mentioned or noticied. Somi is already famous due to Sixteen and Produce 101. A fan even told Jihyo to move out of the way so she/he could give their present to another member making her say "I am a member too'

Somi improved greatly over the course of Produce 101 - especially her vocals.  Part of was due to her hard work, and the rest was due to assistance from a new friend.  JYP must be scratching his head at how that was accomplished, but he's got to be very happy. It's money in his pocket.

michinpabo Wednesday, April 20, 2016

She's way too young and pretty much a kid still. Her skills are okay but I am worried that she rushing things a bit. JYP knows that she needs to be held back for at least a few more years. IOI would be a good internship for her though.

Keepinitkreal michinpabo Thursday, April 21, 2016

Right? Then csan can head over to a proper company and prosper

karebearsays Wednesday, April 20, 2016

JYP knows best.  (Most of the time anyway lol)
