On October 28, a 25 year old man identified as Mr. Kim was booked for slapping a junior high school student who he caught smoking.

In the city of Daegu, Mr. Kim was walking home when he found a junior high school student smoking a cigarette inside an apartment playground. Without a word, Mr. Kim reportedly walked up to the student and started slapping him across the face.

The police stated, "On his way home after drinking alcohol, [Mr. Kim] saw that an underage [person] was smoking a cigarette and hit him in order to discipline him." Mr. Kim was indicted without being held in detention. 

Netizens have mixed reactions on the incident. While one top comment saying, "Even if he's right, he's a rude jerk�," others seem to criticize the student more, saying, "When students see adults they're supposed to avoid them, but these days students don't have a sense of hierarchy and display rude behavior," and, "We should commend him!! The junior high school student's parents who didn't raise him right should kneel and apologize."
