Actors Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee have captivated fans with their undeniable chemistry in a new pictorial for Elle Korea, ahead of the premiere of their upcoming JTBC drama 'My Youth', set to air on September 5 KST.

The photoshoot captured the duo in a concept that delicately walks the line between long-time friends and affectionate lovers. Their seamless coordination and expressive poses on set reportedly impressed the staff, creating a perfect visual representation of the drama’s themes.

Following the shoot, the pair sat down for an interview to share insights into their new roles. 'My Youth' tells the story of first loves Sun Woo Hae and Sung Je Yeon—a tale of growth, healing, and a heartfelt reunion.

Song Joong Ki, who plays Sun Woo Hae, a novelist and florist, revealed his deep connection to the script:

“The moment I read it, I felt like I was being healed. I’m drawn to characters with rich emotional layers, and Sun Woo Hae definitely has those.”

Speaking about his co-star, Song praised Chun Woo Hee’s craft:

“She’s an incredibly communicative actress. She’s honest, thoughtful, and comes prepared with so much research. She never holds back when expressing her ideas.”

Chun Woo Hee plays Sung Je Yeon, a no-nonsense management team leader known as a “bulldozer.” She described her character as:

“A woman striving for perfection, someone who may be shaken by her surroundings but never fully surrenders. She believes that with enough effort, anything can be overcome.”

Reflecting on their collaboration, Chun said:

“Joong Ki oppa has a wide perspective—not just in acting, but in observing everything on set. Working with him was truly effortless.”

When asked about the key theme of “reunion,” Chun offered a poetic take:

“I think everything happens in its own season. If you were sincere in the moment, then that connection was meaningful.”

As for what “youth” means to them, Song Joong Ki said:

“Youth is when life feels uncertain, yet that anxiety is matched by a sense of excitement.”

Chun Woo Hee answered,

“Curiosity. I think once you lose your sense of curiosity, that sparkle within you starts to fade.”

The full pictorial and interview featuring Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee will be available in the September issue of Elle Korea and on its official website.
