The members of KARA's remarks during an appearance on a past Japanese variety show have drawn sharp reactions from netizens.
The post was made on an online community board titled, 'KARA's problematic remark' and included the footage, as well as the Japanese to Korean translations.
The video shows the members talking about the Korean culture when it comes to dating. They asserted that Korean men have the responsibility of paying for all of the expenses when going on dates.
Seung Yeon explained, "Men in Korea usually pay for everything when going on a date. Ladies first." Then Jiyoung added, "They pay for the food and even carry your purse for you."
Upon hearing their assertion, the MC's were surprised and questioned them, "They even carry your purse?" to which the members nodded in agreement.
The MC's then commented saying, "That's shocking", but the members of KARA shot back replying, "It's more shocking if they forget to do those things. If they don't do it, then bye bye!"
Netizens voiced their opinion and responded, "That was a bit of a careless remark", "But... What they said wasn't a lie", and "Not all Korean guys are like that."
