Lee Ji Ah's management company, KeyEast, is refuting Seo Taiji's statements regarding his position to the divorce issue. Lee Ji Ah's side announced the following via a press release on July 5th:

"Lee Ji Ah has been making efforts for an amicable ending after the lawsuit was revealed to the public. However, the opposing side has disagreed to withdrawing the case and as the lawsuit kept moving inevitably, Seo Taiji's counsel has offered a settlement. Last week, we've been getting very close to ending the case with an agreement".

Ahead of this issue, Seo Taiji's side has announced on July 4th that Lee Ji Ah has changed the focus of the issue to negligence and insisted on the invalidity of their divorce. Lee Ji Ah's side criticized this point, "this claim is contradictory as both sides were moving towards reaching an agreement at this point, but Seo Taiji's side has reported that Lee Ji Ah's side is continuously attacking their side with slander. Although both counsels are working for a settlement, we believe this sort of attitude will not help reaching an amicable agreement". Continuing, "Related to the invalidity of their divorce, conflict arose as a loophole in Lee Ji Ah and Seo Taiji's divorce has left the two to be still considered a married couple according to the law, therefore, in order to get rid of the haziness in their status, we've concluded that a repeated divorce proceeding is of utmost necessity... With this said, we have added the intent of divorce procedures of both sides, and we had an understanding that Seo Taiji's side has understood this claim. In this sense, the false rumors that claim we're insisting a common-law marriage is a lie". Also, "Contrary to Seo Taiji's claims that Lee Ji Ah had knowledge of the invalidity of their divorce is false, as she found out around May as the lawsuit has inevitably been going on as the two sides failed at reaching an agreement. Therefore, Seo Taiji's side is twisting the facts claiming that Lee Ji Ah knew of this fact, as she most definitely did not". To Seo Taiji's side announcing that they will reveal preparatory documents, Lee Ji Ah's side refuted, "Because if only a portion of the documents are revealed to the public, it may cause confusion, if they're willing to reveal the documents, they must show all the documents from June 14th and 24th, as well as documents not yet submitted and all possible evidence". Conclusively, "As both sides are nearing an amicable agreement, it is hard to understand why Seo Taiji's side has released statements to the press today that conflict with their claims from yesterday".
