On the January 27 airing of Mnet's '4 Things Show,' Niel released his self-produced song, "Affogato," meaning 'a gentle mix of sweet and bitter.'

Prior to releasing the song, Niel revealed that the track does not carry the stylistic tones of TEEN TOP, but it's a song that embraces Niel's individual musicality. On the airing, L.Joe commented, "From what I remember, Niel was working on the song since last year. And I think it's going well. A lot of girls would like it."
