The controversy surrounding 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' having its acceptance speech cut short at the Academy Awards continues, with an official response now coming from Rob Mills.

According to Variety, Mills, executive vice president of Walt Disney Television, acknowledged the issue in an interview, stating that how speeches are handled will be closely reviewed for future ceremonies.

Mills explained that acceptance speeches vary depending on the number of winners on stage and the limited time allocated. He suggested possible alternatives, such as designating a single speaker or continuing additional remarks backstage and sharing them via social media.

He also emphasized the difficulty of cutting off winners mid speech, noting that “it’s especially hard when you’re cutting somebody off and it’s their one moment,” adding that the issue requires careful and long term consideration.

The controversy began after the acceptance speech for 'Golden' was interrupted by orchestral music before the winners could finish speaking. The moment drew criticism from global viewers, particularly as the song marked the first K-pop track to win in the category.

While Rob Mills did not provide a direct explanation for the incident, his remarks indicate that the Oscars may revisit and adjust how acceptance speeches are managed moving forward.
