Actress Cha Joo Young, who debuted in 2016, once again captured audiences with a magnetic presence that’s impossible to look away from. She previously gained widespread acclaim for her role in Netflix’s 'The Glory' in 2022, and last year, she earned praise for delivering a career-defining performance in 'The Queen Who Crowns.'

The ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'Climax,' aired on March 17, focused on Cha Joo Young’s character, Lee Yang Mi, as she entered a full-blown conflict with Bang Tae Seop (played by Joo Ji Hoon). Earlier, Lee Yang Mi had asserted control over Choo Sang Ah (played by Ha Ji Won), leaving a chilling warning in her wake.

After viewing a video of Nam Hye Hoon (played by Yoon Sa Bong), Lee Yang Mi smirked and questioned Bang Tae Seop’s intentions. When her own vulnerabilities were targeted, she clashed head-on with him, provoking curiosity by referencing a mysterious figure.

However, Lee Yang Mi soon faced an unexpected challenge while attempting to stop Bang Tae Seop. He leaked to the media Nam Hye Hoon’s allegedly corrupt dealings and suspicions of illegal favors. The intensity of Lee Yang Mi’s reaction was so vivid that her bloodshot eyes radiated sheer menace.

Lee Yang Mi then unleashed a fierce rage toward Choo Sang Ah, leaving everyone holding their breath. Notably, she threatened both Bang Tae Seop and Choo Sang Ah with destruction, heightening anticipation for the drama’s upcoming developments.

Cha Joo Young’s performance injected a palpable tension throughout the first half of the series, drawing viewers fully into the story. Her compelling acting not only made her character’s narrative arc entirely immersive but also shaped the overall mood, amplifying the drama’s intensity.

Above all, Cha Joo Young conveyed her character’s emotional extremes through her eyes alone, leaving a powerful impression. Through subtle changes in tone, gaze, and gesture, she brought Lee Yang Mi to life with striking realism.

'Climax' airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM and is also available on KT Genie TV and Disney+.
