Broadcaster Shin Dong Yup has shared heartfelt joy and gratitude following his daughter’s acceptance into Seoul National University.
In a phone interview on February 5, Shin revealed that his eldest daughter, Shin Ji Hyo, was admitted to two universities simultaneously, ultimately deciding to enroll at Seoul National University. “My daughter worked really hard. I’m just grateful,” he said with a warm smile. “She did her best, and that’s what matters most. My wife also went through a lot.”
Shin explained that his daughter, who has long pursued ballet, also maintained a strong passion for academics. She is set to enter the Department of Physical Education at Seoul National University. “She loved ballet and stayed committed to it, but she also genuinely enjoyed studying. Her college entrance exam results were very good,” he added.
The news of Ji Hyo’s acceptance first became public on February 4 through the official social media account of the ballet academy she attended. It was revealed that she had also been accepted to the Korea National University of Arts, drawing widespread congratulations.

Shin credited much of his daughter’s success to his wife, producer Sun Hye Yoon, a Seoul National University alumna herself. “I supported her emotionally, but my wife paid close attention to her studies. I’m truly thankful to her,” he said, expressing deep appreciation.
Ji Hyo previously reflected on her challenging year in a social media post, writing that 2025 was a year of constant learning, perseverance, and discovering the power of determination—offering a glimpse into the effort behind her achievement.
