Singer Lee Hyori and her husband Lee Sang Soon are set to help young adults with developmental disabilities explore romance in a new variety show.
The couple will appear on SBS-TV’s upcoming program, 'My Heart is Mongle-Mongle: Mongle Counseling Center,' which premieres next month. This marks their first appearance together on a couple-focused variety show in their 13 years of marriage.
In the show, Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon take on the roles of counselors at the Mongle Counseling Center, guiding young adults with developmental disabilities as they experience their first romantic relationships.
Lee Hyori explained why they chose to participate in the project: “I’ve always admired PD Go Hye Rin’s previous works. I felt she genuinely wanted to create a meaningful program.” She added that her interest in understanding the lives of young people with developmental disabilities also motivated her participation: “I realized there’s a lot I don’t know about them, and I wanted to learn.” Lee Sang Soon echoed her sentiments, saying, “The concept was great. It’s a program that addresses sensitive topics without being too heavy or too light.”
Throughout the eight-week program, the couple spent time with three young adults with developmental disabilities, forming close bonds. Lee Hyori recalled, “I remember Ji Hyun’s date the most. Watching her genuinely like someone for who they are made my heart feel warm.” Lee Sang Soon added, “Ji Hyun’s clear and pure expression was so beautiful. It was healing. Our date at Hangang Park is still unforgettable.”
The couple expressed their hopes for viewers: “We hope people watch these young adults as they truly are. It’s a program that will bring healing through their pure energy.”
'My Heart is Mongle-Mongle: Mongle Counseling Center' premieres on SBS-TV on March 8.
