Singer Kang Daniel has left for the military after sharing a heartfelt handwritten letter with fans.
On the 9th, Kang Daniel posted a photo of his newly shaved haircut on Instagram along with the message, “I’ll be back.” Fellow Wanna One member Kim Jae Hwan commented, “Come back healthy!!!,” warming fans’ hearts.
Kang Daniel also revealed a sincere handwritten letter announcing his enlistment. He wrote, “As of February 9, I will be enlisting as an active duty soldier at the Nonsan training center. I had always been watching the timing, but honestly, I never imagined my enlistment would be delayed this much. Still, I feel relieved in a way, and it is an honor to be able to fulfill my duty to the country in good health.”
He continued, “Although I have to say goodbye to society for a short while, I will continue to refine myself and become stronger. Over the past two years, I spent a lot of time thinking about the path I have walked through my activities and songwriting, as well as the road ahead. I believe fans have come to know more about Kang Daniel as a person rather than just as a singer.” He added, “On one hand I feel sorry, but on the other I am sincerely grateful that you have always stayed by my side and allowed me to remain ambitious about the results of my work in music.”
Kang Daniel concluded, “A year and a half may sound long, but when I calculated my discharge date, it turned out to be next year. In order to become the version of myself I want, the time actually feels tight. I hope my fans can also focus on self development or get some good rest so we can begin my new chapter together. I will be cheering for all of you while faithfully carrying out my military service.”
Kang Daniel will undergo basic military training before serving as an active duty soldier in the Army. His expected discharge date is August 8, 2027.
