Actor Ha Jung Woo is making his long-awaited return to the small screen for the first time in 19 years.
The production team of 'Mad Concrete Dreams,' a new Saturday Sunday drama set to premiere on tvN at 9:10 PM on February 14, unveiled photos from the script reading session featuring Ha Jung Woo, Im Soo Jung, Kim Jun Han, Krystal, and Shim Eun Kyung.
The series is a suspense drama about a financially struggling building owner who becomes involved in a fake kidnapping scheme in order to protect his family and the property he values more than his life.
The project brings together director Lim Pil Sung, known for the films Antarctic Journal and Persona, and rising novelist Oh Han Ki, winner of the '7th Young Writer Award.' Marking his first drama in nearly two decades, Ha Jung Woo shared, “It has been such a long time since I took part in a drama. I will work hard to create a truly entertaining project.”
Im Soo Jung is also returning to television for the first time in five years. She expressed her anticipation, saying, “Through this project, I think I will be able to take on a new type of character and show a different side of myself.”
Ha Jung Woo takes on the role of Ki Soo Jong, a head of household who bought a building through heavy borrowing and is now buried in debt. Im Soo Jung plays Kim Seon, Ki Su Jong’s wife, who stays calm and pushes through crises with composure.
Shim Eun Kyung, drawing attention with her return to Korean dramas, plays Yona, a mysterious working level executive at Real Capital. The production team commented, “From the script reading stage, the actors were already completely immersed in their characters, raising the tension and level of engagement as if they were in an acting battle.”
