Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has personally stepped forward to request additional concert dates in Mexico for BTS’ world tour.
On January 26th (local time), President Sheinbaum revealed that she had sent a letter to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung requesting additional BTS performances in Mexico as part of the group’s world tour.
During a regular press conference, Sheinbaum stated, “A globally popular K-pop artist, BTS, will be holding concerts in Mexico in May. However, I’ve heard that many young people were unable to secure tickets.” She added, “About 150,000 tickets were sold in Mexico, but more than one million people reportedly wanted seats.”
She continued, “With three concerts already confirmed in Mexico City, I made a polite diplomatic request to the Korean president, asking that BTS visit Mexico more often.”
She further remarked, “I hope we receive a positive response, or at least permission for screen broadcasts,” adding, “We need to find ways for more young people to experience this group, which is enjoying tremendous popularity worldwide, especially in Mexico.”
Meanwhile, BTS plans to begin their world tour on April 9th at Goyang Stadium’s main arena, with a total of 79 performances across Asia, North America, Europe, South America, and Oceania.
