Actress Lee Si Young has revealed that she faced a dangerous situation due to premature labor while giving birth to her second child.
Lee Si Young appeared on broadcaster Noh Hong Chul’s YouTube channel on January 1, where she spoke candidly about her childbirth experience. The two had previously gone trekking together in the Himalayas to mark the New Year.
Lee said she gave birth two weeks earlier than her due date. “I was taken into surgery for a cesarean section, but I had already consumed water and medication that morning,” she explained. “Because of that, they said they couldn’t administer general anesthesia.”
As a result, only the lower half of her body was anesthetized. “I underwent surgery for more than two hours while fully conscious,” she said.
She recalled that around 15 doctors rushed into the operating room to prepare for the procedure. “There were far more medical staff than usual,” she said.
Explaining the premature birth, Lee added, “The baby had to be admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit without question. That’s why pediatric specialists were also present.”

“It was only after the surgery that I realized how serious the situation had been,” she said. “There was a significant possibility that my uterus might have had to be removed, which is probably why so many doctors were there.”
Because she was awake during the procedure, Lee Si Young said she could hear the doctors talking. “One of them even joked, ‘Hey, you guys should work out too,’” she said, drawing laughter.
Lee added that doctors told her she was “in as good condition as someone giving birth for the first time,” which made her once again appreciate the importance of maintaining regular exercise habits.
Lee Si Young married a businessman in 2017 but divorced in March last year. Following the divorce, she sparked controversy after it was revealed that she became pregnant with her second child through the implantation of a frozen embryo without her ex-husband’s consent. She gave birth in November last year.
