Actress Kang Eun Bi shared the devastating news that she has lost her unborn child.
On January 15, Kang Eun Bi posted a video along with the message, “Sansam, I love you. Let’s meet again,” revealing her grief and the painful moments surrounding the loss.
In the opening of the video, Kang Eun Bi is seen breaking down in tears as she tells her husband, Byeon Jun Pil, “I couldn’t protect the baby.” Her husband comforts her, responding, “You didn’t fail to protect the baby. Honestly, I don’t need a baby right now. I just want you. I just want you to be okay,” as the couple cry together.
Through the video, Kang Eun Bi disclosed that she suffered a miscarriage on January 3. She explained that while she had been told everything was progressing normally, doctors later informed her that her amniotic fluid levels had begun to decrease. During further testing, medical staff suspected a leak in the amniotic fluid, leading to her transfer to a higher-level hospital.
She shared, “All of my tests had been normal. I could feel the baby moving well, and I had no fever or pain, so I believed it was simply exhaustion from overworking. But after two days of hospitalization, I was told my amniotic fluid level was zero.” Doctors suspected premature rupture of membranes, and she remained on strict bed rest with a catheter for another two days. However, the amniotic fluid did not regenerate.
Facing the possibility of terminating the pregnancy, Kang Eun Bi was transferred to an even larger hospital. There, she was told that the baby was lying sideways, tightly pressed against the placenta, with no possibility of further lung development, barely surviving in an extremely confined space.
She recalled, “In that moment, everything collapsed. I felt unbearably guilty, hearing that my ignorance may have caused my baby to suffer. I had to make a decision.” Kang Eun Bi shared that she accepted the reality of letting go of her baby on the day she reached 21 weeks of pregnancy. She underwent induced labor, and the baby passed away shortly after being born.
Afterward, Kang Eun Bi revealed that she personally handled the funeral arrangements. “After being discharged, I went straight to the crematorium. I felt so sorry that my baby had to be alone on such a cold day. I could only stand there and cry,” she said, expressing deep sorrow.
Kang Eun Bi married her longtime partner Byeon Jun Pil, who is the same age as her, in April of last year after 17 years of dating. In September, at the age of 40, she naturally conceived and had been expecting to give birth in May. Tragically, she experienced the loss five months into her pregnancy.
