Comedian Park Na Rae has reportedly undergone an additional round of police questioning that lasted late into the night, amid an ongoing legal dispute with her former manager.
According to Edaily on January 15, Park appeared at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul at around 8 p.m. on January 14 and was questioned as a complainant for approximately six hours, until around 2 a.m. The Yongsan Police Station is currently investigating a case in which Park filed a complaint against her former manager, identified as A, on charges including attempted extortion and occupational embezzlement. The latest questioning comes about a month after the first round of investigation, which took place on December 19 last year.
Following the initial questioning on December 22, A reportedly left for the United States and is currently staying there. With the additional questioning of Park now complete, the possibility of summoning and further investigating A as the accused party is said to be increasing.
Meanwhile, Park has suspended her activities since late last year after becoming embroiled in a series of allegations involving abuse of power, illegal medical practices, and embezzlement raised by her former managers.
Former managers A and B have claimed that they suffered workplace harassment, aggravated injury, proxy prescription practices, and unpaid work-related expenses during their employment. They have filed a civil lawsuit seeking approximately 100 million KRW (about 50,849 USD) in damages against Park. The two alleged that they were verbally abused for not drinking alcohol and claimed that they were injured after being struck by a glass thrown by Park.
In response, Park denied the allegations and filed a criminal complaint against her former managers, asserting that they demanded a large sum of money based on false claims. She accused them of attempted extortion and occupational embezzlement, maintaining that the allegations against her are unfounded.
