Singer Kang Daniel is set to enlist in the military this February.
According to OSEN on January 14, Kang Daniel will begin his mandatory service on February 9, enlisting as an active-duty soldier in the Army. This marks the start of his first official military hiatus, nine years after making his debut in 2017 as a member of Wanna One.
Kang Daniel has consistently shared his honest and composed thoughts about enlistment through interviews and broadcast appearances. In an interview tied to the release of his fifth mini album 'ACT' in 2024, he said, “I plan to work as hard as I can before enlistment. I’ve already prepared songs to release ahead of it,” adding, “I also have plans laid out for after my discharge.”
During a previous appearance on 'Cultwo Show,' Kang Daniel expressed a sense of relief as he spoke about his upcoming enlistment, saying, “I’m finally going.” He also shared an anecdote from his youth, explaining, “I actually dropped out of high school and took the GED because I wanted to enlist early at 19, but there were so many applicants that I didn’t get in.”
After releasing a special album in December, Kang Daniel met fans for the last time ahead of his enlistment through his fan concert '2025 KANGDANIEL FAN CONCERT [RUNWAY : WALK TO DANIEL].' He is also expected to participate partially in the filming of a Wanna One reality program before officially entering the Army.
