Director Yeon Sang Ho officially announced the release of his upcoming film ‘Colony’, confirming a 2026 premiere alongside the reveal of a 30-second main trailer.
Positioned as one of the most anticipated Korean films of 2026, 'Colony' is set inside a building sealed off after an unidentified infection outbreak. Trapped within, isolated survivors engage in a desperate struggle against infected beings that continue to evolve in unpredictable and terrifying ways.
The film marks Yeon Sang Ho’s latest cinematic project following his acclaimed works such as 'Train to Busan' and the Netflix series 'Hellbound,' further cementing his reputation as a creator known for bold world-building and thought-provoking genre storytelling. Notably, 'Colony' also signals Jun Ji Hyun’s return to the big screen for the first time in 11 years since 'Assassination.'
Joining Jun Ji Hyun is an impressive ensemble cast including Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Been, Kim Shin Rok, and Go Soo, promising a dynamic and intense on-screen chemistry. The film is distributed by Showbox and produced by WOWPOINT and Smilegate.
The newly released trailer opens with a cryptic line delivered by Kwon Se Jung (Jun Ji Hyun), a biotechnology researcher trapped inside the infected building, immediately setting an ominous tone. Suspense builds through the uneasy expression of Seo Young Cheol (Koo Kyo Hwan), who appears to stand at the heart of the unfolding crisis. The preview continues with high-impact glimpses of Choi Hyun Seok (Ji Chang Wook), the building’s security officer who throws himself into danger to confront the infected, and Gong Seol Hee (Shin Hyun Been), struggling to make sense of the mysterious situation.
Also featured are Choi Hyun Hee (Kim Shin Rok), whose face reflects the tension of an imminent life-or-death moment, and Han Gyu Seong (Go Soo), whose fearful expression captures the chaos consuming the building. Together, the characters’ brief but striking appearances heighten anticipation for the film’s intense survival narrative.
Previously screened exclusively in theaters at the end of last year, the 30-second trailer already generated strong buzz among moviegoers. With its chilling premise, high-caliber cast, and Yeon Sang Ho’s signature genre sensibility, 'Colony' is shaping up to be a major theatrical event in 2026.
