ILLIT’s Wonhee opened up about how deeply moved she was after receiving praise from singer-actress IU.
On the January 14 broadcast of MBC’s variety show 'Radio Star' (Episode 949), Park Geun Hyung, Song Ok Sook, Choi Hyun Woo, and ILLIT member Wonhee appeared as guests. During the episode, Wonhee shared that she recently earned recognition from IU, recalling her emotional experience covering IU’s hit song “Good Day” at the 'MBC Gayo Daejejeon' year-end stage.
Wonhee explained, “I covered senior IU’s "Good Day" at the 'MBC Gayo Daejejeon.' I actually only decided on it right before, during practice the day before. While practicing, there were times when I even cried.” She continued, “I heard recently that she watched my performance and said, ‘You did such a great job.’ I was so, so touched by that.”
Wonhee also addressed the nickname “Nation’s Little Sister,” revealing that she had even asked for time to clarify it during a pre-interview with the writers. “I don’t think of myself as the Nation’s Little Sister at all,” she said. “I’m just one of the many candidates. I could be the Nation’s Ant, the Nation’s Weed, or the Nation’s Sprout anything is fine. The title ‘Nation’s Little Sister’ is a nickname given to me by 'Radio Star,' which is a prestigious program. I personally have no opinion about it.” Her honest clarification drew laughter from the studio.
She then added that, in her view, the true “Nation’s Little Sister” is still IU, earning warm agreement and smiles from the hosts.
