According to reports on January 23 KST, the artist lineup for MBC's 'Show! Music Core in Macau' may be facing last minute lineup changes due to the ongoing China-Japan conflict.
'Show! Music Core in Macau' is scheduled to be held next month from February 7-8. So far, the event has announced its first and second lineups, consisting of ALPHA DRIVE ONE, ENHYPEN, KickFlip, LE SSERAFIM, WayV, BOYNEXTDOOR, Hearts2Hearts, izna, Mark, TEN, and ZEROBASEONE. A third lineup announcement, as well as additional information about the venue and ticketing, is due to drop very soon.
However, it's been reported that some members of the above K-Pop groups of Japanese nationality are facing visa issues and may be unable to attend 'Show! Music Core in Macau'. The issues are directly related to worsened China-Japan relations since November of last year, when Japan's prime minister Sanae Takaichi commented on Japan's willingness to "send ground forces to Taiwan's aid in the event of an emergency." In response, China has retaliated with strong sanctions against Japanese imports, also severely impacting tourism and travel to and from China and Japan for nationals of both countries.
Sources say that one team from the 'Show! Music Core in Macau' lineup with several Japanese members has had to ultimately pull out of the event, and MBC is currently looking for a replacement team. It's likely that other teams may perform on stage without their Japanese member.
Meanwhile, 'Show! Music Core in Macau' will be hosted by ZEROBASEONE's Zhang Hao and Kim Gyu Vin, Hearts2Hearts' A-na, and TWS's Dohoon.
