Actress Han So Hee shared her candid thoughts on part-time work, revealing that she sometimes helps out at a café even during her breaks from acting.
On January 22, Han So Hee appeared as a guest on the YouTube variety show MMTG, alongside co-stars Kim Shin Rok and Jung Young Joo from the film 'Project Y.' During the episode, she spoke openly about her personal lifestyle philosophy, explaining that she tends to choose “continuing to work” rather than deliberately taking time to rest, even amid a busy schedule.
“I’m not the type to intentionally stop working,” Han So Hee said. “In a past interview, I mentioned that the longest break I’ve ever taken was about three nights and four days.” She went on to explain that even when she has open time in her schedule, she prefers staying active rather than resting idly. In particular, she surprised viewers by sharing that she sometimes works part-time at a café during short breaks or between projects. “If I’m told to take about a week off, I’ll go help out at a café where a friend works,” she said. “Whenever I have free time, I naturally end up looking for something to do.”
Reflecting on her past part-time job experiences, Han So Hee added, “Working actually helps me focus better and improves my efficiency. I think it suits me because I have a strong desire for accomplishment.” The actress also spoke about her tendency to challenge herself in areas she considers unfamiliar or even weaknesses. As an example, she recalled taking on action acting for the drama 'My Name.' “At first, I heard a lot of people say action didn’t suit me,” she said. “I was also told that I’d never really done physically demanding roles before.”
She candidly described her first experience at an action school, saying, “I later found out that the action director was worried when they first saw me. That’s how difficult the starting point was.”
Despite the challenges, Han So Hee did not give up. She trained consistently for about three months, combining multiple workouts each day to prepare for filming. “At the time, it was a very scary and overwhelming challenge,” she admitted. “But looking back now, enduring that period holds great meaning for me.” She concluded with renewed confidence, adding, “If I get another chance to do action acting, I think I could do it much better than before.”
