Singer and actor Park Yoochun has spoken out directly to distance himself from recent rumors circulating online.
On January 22, Park posted a message in Japanese on his social media, stating, “There are so many rumors that I have never thought about or said.” He continued, “I was shocked because these were stories I was hearing for the first time today,” and asked the public to “please believe only what I have personally said.”
The post drew attention as it came shortly after news broke that Park’s former fiancée, Hwang Ha Na, had been taken into custody again on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. During the investigation process, claims surfaced online alleging that the names of several celebrities were mentioned in her statements, fueling speculation across online communities.
Park previously faced legal consequences in 2019 after being indicted for using illegal drugs together with Hwang. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years. At the time, Park held a press conference denying the allegations and stated that he would retire from the entertainment industry if the accusations were proven true. However, National Forensic Service test results later came back positive, and the charges were upheld.
Although Park initially announced his retirement, he later reversed the decision and resumed activities overseas. He has since held fan meetings and performances primarily in Japan and Thailand. In South Korea, however, his activities have effectively been halted amid disputes over exclusive contracts and ongoing controversies involving large-scale and repeated tax delinquencies.
More recently, it was reported that Park reached a settlement in a damages lawsuit with his former agency. Despite this, he has faced criticism for not offering detailed explanations regarding the various allegations and rumors that have surrounded him over the years.
Following his latest social media post, online reactions have been mixed, with netizens offering differing interpretations of his message and its timing.
