KATSEYE’s second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' track “Gnarly” has been ranked 5th on the UK music magazine NME’s list of The 50 Best Songs of 2025.
Released on December 1, the list features global artists such as PinkPantheress, Rosalia, and Lady Gaga, who have captured the attention of both the public and critics. “Gnarly” received high praise for showcasing KATSEYE’s bold artistic experimentation, earning it a top-tier position.
NME commented, “When Katseye debuted in 2024, they seemed to be following a soft, cutesy approach to girl group superstardom. In April, they unceremoniously booted all sweetness out of the picture with the attitude and divisive edge of ‘Gnarly’. “Hottie, hottie / Like a bag of Takis / I’m the shit,” they boast, taking us on a mind-bending journey set to speaker-shaking bass that asks the listener to decide if a list of items ('Boba tea,' 'Tesla,' 'Fried chicken') is gnarly (positive) or gnarly (derogatory). The verdict on Katseye? Most definitely the former. ”
The track blends hyper-pop with dance and punk elements, produced collaboratively by global hitmakers including Pink Slip, Tim Randolph, “hitman” Bang, and Slow Rabbit. Its daring and experimental sound created a sensation upon release.

While some initially found KATSEYE’s radical transformation surprising, their powerful live performances on Korean music shows quickly spread through word-of-mouth, driving explosive popularity. The six members—Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae—were particularly praised for their expressive stage presence, dynamic twerking, and confident performance style.
“Gnarly” reached No. 52 on the UK Official Singles Chart (May 9) and No. 90 on the US Billboard Hot 100 (June 21). Even six months after its release, the song continues to enjoy global popularity, re-entering major international charts alongside another hit, “Gabriela.”
KATSEYE debuted in the United States last June after undergoing the systematic T&D (Training & Development) program of HYBE America. The group is now nominated for two categories at the 68th Grammy Awards on February 1: Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
