JYP Entertainment, one of K-pop’s leading agencies, has announced that it will hold its 20th open trainee auditions across five cities nationwide starting January 2026.
The auditions will begin on January 17 in Gwangju, then continue in Daejeon, Busan, and Daegu, before concluding in Seoul from January 31 to February 1. This round holds special significance as it marks the final open audition hosted by JYP.
For the past 20 years, JYP’s open trainee auditions have served as a key platform for discovering new talent in the K-pop industry.
Eligibility for this round is restricted to applicants born between 2008 and 2016. Participants can apply in one of five categories: vocal, rap, dance, modeling, or acting, choosing the field in which they feel most confident.
The auditions are designed to provide wide-ranging opportunities for aspiring entertainers with diverse talents. Applications opened on December 1 and can be submitted via JYP’s official audition website until 11:59 PM the day before each regional audition, allowing applicants to apply conveniently from anywhere in the country through the online system.
The audition schedule is as follows:
January 17: Gwangju Ssangchon Youth Cultural Center
January 18: Daejeon DCC Convention Center
January 24: Busan Suyeong Youth Cultural Center
January 25: Daegu Youth Cultural Center Komjirak Development Center
January 31 – February 1: Seoul Jung-gu Youth Center
The Seoul auditions will be held over two days, reflecting strong interest from the metropolitan area.
Successful applicants will gain the opportunity to become JYP trainees, receiving structured education and professional training in preparation for their debut.
After the 20th open auditions, JYP plans to shift toward global auditions and other forms of talent scouting. This move reflects the agency’s commitment to discovering talent from various countries and regions in line with the globalization of K-pop, while moving away from the traditional open audition format to establish a new talent selection system.
