Broadcaster Jun Hyun Moo has won his first Grand Prize (Daesang) at KBS after nearly two decades, though the moment was marked by mixed emotions as he opened up about personal hardships.
On the 20th, the 2025 KBS Entertainment Awards were held at the KBS New Hall, hosted by Lee Chan Won, Lee Min Jung, and Moon Se Yoon. The Daesang was awarded to Jun Hyun Moo, who took the stage with a visibly surprised expression, admitting he had not expected the honor. Although he had been nominated multiple times in the past, this marked his first Grand Prize win at KBS in six years.
In his acceptance speech, Jun said, “I honestly can’t believe this. Thank you so much for giving me such a big award,” adding that he would take it as a sign to work even harder.
However, he also shared a more somber side, revealing that he has been going through a difficult time due to his father’s illness. “These days have been very tough,” he said. “I’m juggling making people laugh while going back and forth to the hospital to care for my father, and it’s been physically exhausting.” He continued, “I want to become a better person—someone my father can feel proud of when he looks at me. It’s been a very difficult year-end in many ways, and I hope that 2026 will bring only good things.”
Other nominees for the Daesang included Kim Sook, Kim Young Hee, Kim Jong Min, Park Bo Gum, Boom, and Lee Chan Won.
